Six turned out to be the magic number: the Greenies (255 points) placed sixth out of 44 teams in the International Boys division of the Eye-Opener Meet with a half-dozen individual PRs.
Leading runners for Christ School were: Noah Clancy ‘26 (12th place, 15:52.10*), Brooks Barbee ’27 (17th, 15:58.30*), Dallas Reeves ’27 (33rd, 16:22.30*), Cam Adkins ’27 (53rd, 16:37.90*) William Hughes ’25 (150th, 17:41.90*), Luke Purvis ’27 (262nd, 19:02.70), Spencer Vande Weghe ’25 (277th, 19:14.90*), and John Barton ’25 (331st, 20:01.30).
Saturday was the first major race of the season for the Greenies' top-seven runners and their cheering section included alumni Brad Peebles ’68 and Bob Vande Weghe ’88, who is Spencer’s father.
The team has a Carolinas Athletic Association meet Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Rabun Gap (Ga.), with the next major race set for Sept. 21 which is the adidas Cross Country Challenge in Cary, N.C.
