Following the dramatic tension of Wednesday’s overtime win and a two-hour bus ride home, Christ School varsity soccer players got back to work early the next morning.
The team's commitment and experience are showing through two games.
The Greenies (2-0) received seven goals from seven different players – including five in the first 20 minutes of the second half – to pulverize Charlotte Latin, 7-1, in Friday’s home opener.
A textbook set-piece started things off. George Robbins ’24 took a corner kick in the opening 90 seconds that Brendan Regan ’24 collected to make it 1-0. Carter Compton ’24, Truett Compton ’25, Declan Szostczuk ’26, Clayton Butler ’26, George, and Tyler Thompson ’24 then added their own goals in succession.
The goals for Declan and Tyler were their first as Greenies. Tyler’s was a header with 20:33 to go.
Christ School’s next game is Thursday when the team hosts Asheville public-school power A.C. Reynolds. Game times will be 5 p.m. for the JV, followed by the varsity at 6:30.
