Tennis Wins First Conference Match at Rabun Gap

RABUN GAP, Ga. – The bus ride through the mountains to Rabun Gap is never fun, but Christ School tennis made it a rewarding commute Tuesday.

The Greenies (3-6, 1-0) won their first Carolinas Athletic Association match on the road, 6-3.

Singles

Doubles

Hoffman-Gispert (RG) d. Drendel-Fedder 9-8 (7-4); Sam Ludington-Paschall (CS) d. Rodriguez-Vogelbacher 8-1; Norwood Bryan-Dubose (CS) d. Rodriguez-Nacho Fructuoso 8-1.

The Greenies got off to a good start, winning 2nd (Sam Ludington & William Paschall over Quino Rodriguez & Dominiuqe Vogelbocher) and 3rd doubles (Burnam Dubose & Norwood Bryan over Luis Rodriguez and Nacho Gructuoso) both 8-1. 1st doubles was a tight match that Rabun Gap won in a tiebreaker (Chris Hoffman & Pablo Gispert over Ben Fedder and Michael Drendel).

Rabun Gap would get wins at their top singles spots as well, with Hoffman beating Drendel 6-3 6-2, and Dominique Vogelbacher leading Ben Fedder 5-2 when Fedder retired due to back pain. 

Christ School took the 3-6 spots. Dubose beat Rodriguez 6-1 6-0, Martin Gonzalez beat Gispert 6-3 7-5 at 4th singles, Paschall beat Andrea Peleson 6-4 6-4 at 5th singles, and Benjie Bernstein beat Jimmy Chang 6-3 6-1 to round out the match.

Christ School’s next match is against Wesleyan Christian Academy, and their next match in CAA is next week against Asheville Christian Academy, while Rabun Gap will face Carolina Day next.
