Anyone who has been to the Charleston International Airport knows what a big deal The Boeing Company is to the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Thomas Pritchard ’12 was happy to return to the Carolinas on a personal and professional level when he took a job with Boeing just over two years ago.
Thomas, who is a Propulsion Structures Design Engineer, spoke to Christ School’s Honors Engineering students on Thursday. Much of Thomas’ work is in Boeing’s commercial division, but he also talked about helping design new engines for the U.S. military’s fleet of B-52 Stratofortress bombers.
Many of the boys were curious about the track needed for a career in aerospace.
Thomas received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University and his master’s from Georgia Tech, where he was a graduate assistant from 2017 to 2019. He then worked for GE Aviation out of the Boston area before taking the job with Boeing.
Boeing opened its Charleston facility in 2011 and it is known primarily for its full cycle production of the 787 Dreamliner plane.
