WINSTON-SALEM – Christ School athletes won three events and Rocky Hansen ’23 ran his sixth state record Saturday at the JDL Fast Track Invitational.

The Greenies were pitted against a stacked field, as the JDL is considered North Carolina’s premier meet of the indoor season.

Rocky took it to heart, compounded by the fact that the Wake Forest recruit was competing less than 10 miles from his future college. Rocky’s winning time of 2 minutes, 27.32 seconds ranks the Greenie No. 1 all-time among North Carolina runners in the 1,000 meters.

Rocky has previously set state records for the 1,600-meter run, 1-mile run, 3,200- meter run, 2-mile run, and the 5K (3.1 miles) for cross country.

As a warm-up for the 1,000, Rocky teamed Saturday with Kahzi Sealey ’23, Luke Parrish ’24, and Patrick Wang ’24 to win the 3,200-meter relay (8:18.68).

Eyob Gill ’24 took first place individually in the 1,600-meter run (4:33.51) by a quarter of a second and Davidson football recruit Quinton Cancel ’23 was the runner-up in the triple jump (43 feet, 6.75 inches).
