Tyler Thompson '24 Named Class of 2024 Valedictorian


Cuningham House Prefect and Valedictorian make for a powerful combination. 

Tyler Thompson ’24 was announced as the highest-performing scholar from Christ School’s Class of 2024 on Thursday.  

Tyler lives in Cuningham with his parents, faculty members Mark and Carolyn Lowe-Thompson P’24, P’26. He plans to attend Davidson College. 

With the track team in the Raleigh area for this weekend’s state meet, Head of School Dr. Sean Jenkins and Dean of Academics Emily Pulsifer P’15, P’17 presented some Marks of Excellence academic awards near the end of Thursday’s Athletic Awards Night. The rest of the academic ceremony will take place Saturday at 4 p.m. in Mebane Field House.

VALEDICTORIAN

The Valedictorian is an extraordinary scholar who possesses the highest weighted cumulative GPA in the senior class. 

Winner: Tyler Thompson ’24. 

THE MOLTKE-HANSEN SCHOOL SPIRIT TROPHY

The Moltke-Hansen Trophy is presented in memory of Chris Moltke-Hansen, who would have graduated with the Class of 1971. Chosen by a vote of the senior class, this trophy is presented to the senior who demonstrates strong school spirit.

Winner: Noah Henthorn ’24. 

THE CLASS OF 1941 AWARD

The Class of 1941 Award is awarded to the senior who has shown the most growth, both academic and personal, during his Christ School career. The recipient is determined by the faculty. 

Winner: Eyob Gill ’24. 

THE P. H. BROYHILL AWARD

The P.H. Broyhill Award is presented to the five-year student who, through his persistence, fortitude, humility, and demonstrated involvement in all aspects of Christ School life, has made a positive and lasting contribution to Christ School. 

Winner: Tony Murphy ’24. 

As part of this award, the recipient recognizes the faculty member who has been most instrumental in his growth and prosperity during his tenure at Christ School.

Faculty member: Mike Mohney P’23.

THE ANGELUS AWARD

The Angelus Award is presented to a student who has contributed the most to producing the school’s yearbook with his writing, layout, design, financial management, and editorial leadership. 

Winner: Luke Parrish ’24. 

THE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMING AWARD

The Technology Programming Award is presented to a student enrolled in a programming course who has demonstrated technological expertise and an exemplary understanding of the material. 

Winner: Lleyton Thomas-Johnson ’24. 

THE TECHNOLOGY SERVICE AWARD

The Technology Service Award is presented to the student who has shown the most commitment to helping others succeed with technology. 

Winner: Patrick Wang ’24. 

THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AWARD

The Environmental Science Award is presented to the student who has consistently demonstrated the desire to explore the complexity of environmental issues, showed dedication to academic excellence, and engaged in thoughtful dialogue in the environmental science classroom. 

Winner: Jackson Cancel ‘26. 

THE CHEMISTRY AWARD

The Chemistry Award is presented to the student who has shown exceptional work ethic in the Chemistry classroom, diligence in his work in the lab, and the ability to apply the principles of chemistry to situations inside and outside of the classroom. 

Winner: Patrick Wang ’24. 

HISTORY DEPARTMENT AWARD

The History Department Award is presented to the student who has demonstrated a high level of interest in History and exceptional scholarship and achievement in the discipline. 

Winner: Brendan Regan ’24. 

THE ART AWARD

This Art Award is presented to a student who shows true promise in the field of art. The award includes a generous monetary award to support an artistic project or interest. 

Winner: Tony Murphy ’24. 

THE LAWTON INGLE MUSIC AWARD

The Lawton Ingle Award award is presented to the choir member who has made the greatest contribution to Christ School’s music program during his time on campus. 

Winner: Noah Henthorn ’24. 

THE SUCCESSUS FIDELITATE AWARD

The Successus Fidelitate Awards are presented to those underclassmen who, in the judgment of the faculty, have shown significant academic improvement, high personal integrity, strong motivation, and good citizenship.

Winner: Jackson Cancel ’26.
