UNC Football Offers Greenie Quarterback Mason Holtzclaw '27

CHAPEL HILL – Mason Holtzclaw ’27 makes reads and throws that other young quarterbacks cannot. Factor in his physical stature and a 4.0 grade-point average off the field, and there’s a lot for major Division I football coaches to like.

Don’t take our word for it. Ask Mack Brown and his staff at the University of North Carolina. They saw enough at Sunday’s Elite Quarterback Academy in Chapel Hill to offer a scholarship on the spot.

The Tar Heels are the second ACC offer for Mason. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound rising sophomore from Belton, S.C., has now been offered by UNC and Virginia Tech, as well as other Division I programs including Alabama-Birmingham, Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisiana-Monroe, and South Florida.

Mason passed for 1,522 yards and 14 touchdowns last fall. He and the Greenies are scheduled to open their season Aug. 23 at home against Charlotte’s Harding University.
