Naturally, everything was coming up green on St. Patrick’s Day.
Mac Kimel ’22 pitched a four-hit complete game shutout and Matthew Hammel ’23 was 3-for-3 for Christ School varsity baseball in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Gibbs (Tenn.).
The Greenies (2-2) are in the Pigeon Forge, Tenn., area through Saturday for a Spring Break tournament. A day after burning through four different pitchers (in an 8-4 loss to Bearden, Tenn.), Christ School only needed one against Gibbs.
Fifty-five of Mac’s 83 pitchers were strikes. He induced a pop-up to center field to end the game and finished with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Jakob Iwanek ’24 went 1-2 with an RBI and a pair of walks. Johno Pierce ‘23, Webb Hughes ’22, and Sam White ’22 had one hit apiece.
The next game for the Greenies is Saturday at 2 p.m. versus Cookeville (Tenn.).
