Keeping fresh legs for two games in less than 24 hours will be a challenge, not to mention the competition itself.
Christ School varsity basketball controls its own destiny as the first-place team in the Carolinas Athletic Association.
The Greenies (11-6, 2-0) are home Friday versus Asheville School (12-5, 3-1) – the JV game tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity – before turning around and traveling to Rabun Gap (13-8, 2-1) the next day for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m.
Christ School’s streak of six consecutive CAA championships came to an end last season.
Leading scorers for the varsity so far this winter are Emanuel Richards ’23 (18.0 points per game), Bryson Cokley ’24 (9.2 ppg.), Anthony Robinson ’23 (8.7 ppg.), and Jozohn Price ’24 (8.3 ppg.). Jozohn has stepped it up the past two games with 41 combined points, including 19 in Tuesday's 69-50 win at Asheville Christian Academy.
Rebounding-wise, Anthony is pulling down a team-high 9.5 boards per game, followed by Emanuel (6.0 rpg.), and Jozohn (5.5 rpg.). Emanuel also leads the way in assists (3.9) and steals (2.1).
