Win or lose, every game this season had been a slugfest for Christ School varsity football.

Friday night was the polar opposite.

No complaints from the Greenies, who needed less than two hours to dismantle Charlotte Country Day on the road, 45-0.

Bryce Sain ’22 rushed for touchdowns of 10, 45, and 50 yards. Playing a regular-season game in his hometown one final time, A.J. Simpkins ’22 accounted for three TDs as well (two passing, one rushing).

On the offense’s very first play from scrimmage, A.J. found Triston Ward ’23 streaking down the middle of the field for a 73-yard touchdown. Later, he connected with Zack Myers ’24 from 64 yards out and scored on a 13-yard quarterback keeper at the 7:07 mark of the first quarter.

Zack also made an interception in the first half. Charlotte Country Day (1-6) was only able to advance into Greenie territory twice.

Christ School (2-4) was ahead 42-0 at halftime and able to burn off the entire third quarter with the ball in its possession due to a running clock.

Matthew Hammel ’23 made all six of his extra points and was true on a 33-yard field goal with 1:07 to go.
