Adversity reared its head Monday night in Greenville, S.C., and Christ School varsity lacrosse responded in the best way possible – by scoring again, again, and again.
Seniors Emmett Paradine ’22 (four goals, three assists) and Nate Kelley ’22 (four goals, two assists), along with newcomer Aiden Schook ’23 (four goals), led the way with four goals apiece in a 16-9 comeback win at Christ School Episcopal School.
The Greenies (1-0) fell behind 2-0 in the first quarter and spotted the Cavaliers (2-1) a 4-3 halftime lead. Momentum parked itself on Christ School’s sideline in the second half. The team reeled off eight unanswered goals during a rally that stretched over the third and fourth quarters.
Sam Bassett ’22 (two goals, two assists) and Christian Hudson ‘23 (two goals, one assist) provided their veteran leadership, while freshman Carter Sherwood ’26 won 16 of 26 faceoffs in his first varsity game. Sophomore Lucas Little ’24 made eight saves in his first start at goalkeeper.
As in the past, Coach Benjie Colberg has put together a very difficult nonconference schedule for the Greenies which continues Friday at Weddington (1-0).
