Thursday would have been a rainout if William Fleming ’17 was pitching a baseball game.
Fortunately, he and the boys were comfy and dry indoors for the latest installment of the “Lunch and Learn” speaker series.
William is currently active in the Kansas City Royals organization as a right-handed pitcher.
The Christ School alumnus shared anecdotes from his time as a high school student, saying he avoided burnout by playing multiple sports and having other outside interests. After graduation, William played four years at Wake Forest University and was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2021.
William was 9-10 last season with a 5.00 earned-run average and 98 strikeouts in 122.1 innings pitched. He finished 2022 with the High Single-A Quad Cities River Bandits, who play their home games in Davenport, Iowa.
William spoke during both lunches Thursday and his appearance was a nice highlight for the boys on the eve of Winter Break.
