Monday was an afternoon of firsts for Christ School wrestling.
Owen Gillespie ’26 had his hand raised as the first individual winner of the Greenies’ first team match of any kind since 2017.
Tucker Semans ’25, Whaley Nichols ’28, Rory Jennings ’28, Hugh Bailey ’29, and Cash Walker ’27 followed suit with wins in a scrimmage at Enka High School, which is perennially one of the top programs in Western North Carolina. The Jets are coached by former Christ School parent Mark Harris P’22.
Christ School has only had eight practices this season and Monday was the first wrestling that most of the boys had done on a full-sized mat.
The next match for the Greenies is a JV tournament Friday at Swain County.
