Faculty Duties & Responsibilities
All faculty responsibilities begin on August 1. Full-time teachers are designated as 10-month employees. For complete details about the policies, procedures, and standards associated with employment at Christ School, refer to the Employee Handbook (available through the HR office). Assignments may change from year to year, depending on interest and the school’s needs; each year’s assignments will be outlined before a faculty member signs an annual contract.
Housing
- Housing is allocated annually based on availability and hiring priorities.
Advisories
- Each full-time teacher is responsible for supporting a small group of students through the Advisory Program. Advisors meet regularly with their advisees to share meals, discuss health and wellness topics, register for classes, and offer relevant counsel. Advisors also serve as a resource for their advisees’ families.
Study Life & Duty
- Full-time faculty members are responsible for supervising and supporting students on weeknights and weekends. Faculty are assigned to a Duty Team; these teams serve in rotation, with weeknight duty (Monday-Friday) once per week and weekend duty (Saturday and Sunday) every fifth weekend during the school year. As a coach or leader, faculty are expected to prioritize the health, safety, and development of every student under their care. Co-curricular assignments are made based on the school’s needs and faculty interest or expertise.
Academic Assignment
- A standard teaching load for full-time teachers is four academic classes per semester. While most faculty have a clear picture of their specific teaching assignments in mid-summer, there may be changes if students are admitted late in the the admissions cycle or students switch classes during registration and drop-add periods. Additional compensation is provided, if a teacher agrees to teach a fifth class.
