Football Program Director
Christ School is seeking a candidate to serve as its head football coach. This position can be a full-time faculty, administrative, or part-time position. Christ School is an all-boys school, grades 8-12 affiliated with the Episcopal Church. It has students from 17 states and 11 countries with a total student body of over 300 boys.
The Program:
- 65+ players in the program.
- Longest consecutive uninterrupted football rivalry (w/ Asheville School), public or private, in the south.
- State champions – 2020.
- State runners-up – 1977, 1978, 1986, 1988, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019.
- Players signed with University of Alabama, Appalachian State University, Bentley College, Cornell University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Davidson College, Lafayette College, University of Central Florida, UNC - Chapel Hill, UNC-Charlotte, Memphis University, University of Pennsylvania, N.C. State University, University of Tennessee, University of Virginia, Wake Forest University, and Wofford College, (last five years).
Specific Responsibilities:
- Offer positive leadership of the entire (varsity and JV) football program, developing a plan to integrate fundamental teaching at all levels.
- Encourage a sense of belonging for all players in the program and develop relationships with and among players.
- Understand and support the academic responsibilities of the players.
- Value strength & conditioning, nutrition, and playing multiple sports in helping the students to realize their full potential as athletes.
- Build a belief among players that achievement comes through hard work and teamwork.
- Work in partnership with the admissions office both to communicate to prospective students and families the values and ideals of the entire Christ School community and to attract students who aspire to excel in both the classroom and in our community.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to hold a teaching or administrative position (waived for part-time applicants).
- Leadership experience within a competitive football program.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine appreciation for young men and an ability to teach character and life lessons on and off the field.
- Willingness to participate in the life of a residential school.
- Ability to learn and comply with all North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association (NCISAA) rules and regulations.
Preferred:
- Previous Head Coaching experience.
- Varsity level Head Coach or Coordinator experience.
- Previous boarding school experience.
