Christ School is an all-boys boarding and day school located near Asheville, North Carolina in the western part of the state. The school was founded in 1900 and has grown to be one of the best boarding schools in the southeastern United States. Campus is 500 acres and has the facilities to support every student in their interests.

The 300-plus students at Christ School come from 11 countries and 17 states. 10% of our student boy is international and those boys are just as involved in our community as a boy who lives nearby. Our senior leaders include students from China, Canada, and across the United States. Our top athletes and academic students come from far and wide.

Christ School has the facilities and faculty to empower each boy to excel in their area of interest. Whether a student is interesting in the arts, in academic pursuits, in athletics, or something else, we want every boy to become the best version of themself.

International Student FAQs

In what grades do you admit international students?

Christ School accepts international student applications for grades 8-11.  Applications for 12th grade are made on a case-by-case basis, but are very unusual.

Where is Christ School located?

Christ School is located 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, North Carolina in the mountainous western part of the state. Asheville is known for its exciting art, music, and food scene. We are also close to the Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Park so there are miles of trails to explore, rivers to fish in, and mountains to climb.

What is the nearest airport?

Asheville Regional Airport (flyavl.com) is less than four miles from campus and one of the fastest-growing airports in the Southeastern United States.  The Asheville airport offers direct flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Washington D.C., Dallas, Boston, Houston, Las Vegas, New York, Phoenix, and many parts of Florida.

What does my son do if he gets sick while at Christ School?

We have a Wellness Center that is staffed 24/7 with qualified nurses who can address a range of illnesses from COVID-19 to sports injuries. Christ School is also located minutes from a major medical facility in Mission Hospital and the Wellness Center can work in conjunction with the hospital to ensure that every student receives optimal care.

Where do international students go during holidays?

For longer holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break) Student Life and international student families work together to find host families across the United States. For shorter holidays, international students can stay in the dorms or work with the Student Life Office to find a host family.

Where do international students go to college?

​​​​Most international students who graduate from Christ School will attend a college or university in the United States, but students have chosen to attend colleges all over the world. Since 2021, international alumni have enrolled at Harvard University, Duke University, Vanderbilt University, and New York University among many others.

What are Christ School’s dorm like?

Dorm life is social and fun. You share a room with one other student and each dorm has its own student lounge areas, laundry facilities, and bathrooms. Dorm parents live in apartments and townhomes attached to each dorm and are easily accessible.

What is there to do on the weekends?

Christ School offers numerous weekend activities for all students. Students go to NBA and NFL games, concerts, ski trips, art galleries, and gatherings with our sister schools among many other opportunities. Is there an activity you would like to add to the weekend schedule? Talk to our Student Activities Director and he will put it together.

Do you have ESL classes?

No, we do not offer ESL classes. International students must have a solid working knowledge of the English language.

Does Christ School issue I-20 forms?

Once an admitted student submits an enrollment contract and deposit, Christ School will issue an I-20. We will also transfer a student’s I-20 to their college or university of choice upon graduation.

How to I schedule my admission interview?

While we are always excited to host international students on campus and conduct in-person interviews, we also offer interviews over Microsoft Teams and Zoom. To schedule an interview, email the Admission Office at admission@christschool.org.
