Just because Christ School is 121 years old, does not mean there is no room for new traditions.

Head of School Dr. Sean Jenkins presented each of the 61 seniors with their green blazer Wednesday during a formal ceremony that was the first of its kind for the school.

As the year unfolds, Christ School’s Class of 2022 will gradually carve out its own unique identity.

Helping facilitate the process are 12 seniors who were inducted into the National Honor Society on Tuesday.

Searching for a college can be stressful, but two Christ School seniors have a new line to put on future applications. 

Dean of Curriculum & Instruction Bryan Martin announced Tuesday that Tobenna Okoli ’22 has been chosen for the College Board National African American Recognition Program. Likewise, Ivan Mora ’22 has been selected for the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program.

Perhaps no singular moment has come to encapsulate the Christ School experience more than the Senior Speech.

Standing up in front of the entire school requires courage from a boy. Not to mention it takes conviction to share insight and life lessons that have been helpful to his time as a Greenie.  

The senior class for Christ School lacrosse is a group that excels on and off the field, as evidenced by the program's latest college recruit.

Emmett Paradine '22 said Thursday that he has verbally committed to Dartmouth out of the Ivy League. 

Novice and expert climbers alike now have a place to work on their technique without leaving campus.

Boys in the Outdoor Program got their first chance to try out Christ School’s new climbing gym on Wednesday.

“Christ School is a place with great traditions, but we work, and we build for the future.”

Christ School embarks on its 121st year Monday with a record enrollment of 295 boys, a point of pride to be sure. But actions matter more in the end than numbers, new Head of School Dr. Sean Jenkins said in his first Convocation address Sunday night.

Pleasant, sunny weather greeted 75 boys and their families on August 11, the start to Registration for the 2021-22 academic year at Christ School.

With a few swipes of a pen, William Fleming ’17 called Wednesday the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

Every boy who ever picks up a baseball, glove, or bat has the same dream as William. What separates the Christ School alumnus is his talent.

Christ School rising sophomore James Lilly '24 was part of the Asheville Youth Rowing Association U17 4 boat that won a national championship at last month's USRowing Youth National Regatta in Sarasota, Fla.

William Fleming ’17 cuts an imposing figure on the mound at 6-foot-6, 220 pounds. As of Tuesday, the right-handed pitcher also figures into Christ School baseball history as only the program’s second-ever major league draft pick.

Given his background, Dr. Sean Jenkins sees a bit of himself in every Christ School boy. And in return, those students have sensed a warmth and relatability from their new Head of School ever since he and his family arrived on campus in January.  

Like a good neighbor, Wade Mouer ’17 is there.

The commercial jingle for State Farm Insurance can be playfully modified now that Wade has accepted the position of Data Scientist with the insurance company at one of its hubs in the Atlanta area.

Combine the sheer expanse of Christ School's 500-acre campus, the quality of facilities, as well as Asheville's drawing power, and summer camps have returned in a big way. 

Josh Coley brings to Christ School a proven track record as an effective leader and winning coach. The school is confident that Mr. Coley will maintain our tradition of success as the Greenies’ new Varsity Basketball Coach.

In his role as a Mechanical Engineer in the Aeromechanics division of General Electric Aviation, Thomas Pritchard ’12, who arrived at Christ School during his junior year, has a hand in designing the engines of the next generation of Apache and Black Hawk helicopters for the U.S. Army. 

Booz Allen Hamilton is a management and information technology firm that truly operates on a global scale, with its headquarters in McLean, Va., and 80 offices around the world. Nick Anixter ‘17 relocated to Colorado Springs, Colo., in March when he became a Cyber Security Consultant with Booz Allen. The Christ School alumnus recently talked about the perks of a new job and settling into his new home.

Start spreading the news, Christ School student-produced media is thriving like never before in 2021.

“The Stump” newspaper not only just published its first full-color issue, a website with lots of other exclusive content (csstump.net) is coming up on its one-year anniversary. And on the broadcast side of things, there were six “Little Stump News” newscasts produced in its inaugural season.

Christ School football experienced a seismic breakthrough in 2020 with the program’s first-ever state title. The challenge of building on that success now lies with new Head Varsity Football Coach Chad Walker.  

Coach Walker was introduced to the school community Thursday, May 13, during Assembly in Pingree Auditorium on campus. 

Circumstances beyond anyone’s control ultimately led to an extra special morning at Christ School.

Sunday’s crowd of family and friends in Yard A was surely as large as any in Christ School’s 121-year history as more than 100 graduates from the Class of 2021 and Class of 2020 were honored with Commencement exercises.
