Adaptability is never overrated.

Vincent Lytle ’24 found out he was going to be Christ School’s starting quarterback hours before kickoff Friday.

The junior from Winnipeg threw his first varsity touchdown pass – 20 yards to Zack Myers ’23 at the 1:18 mark of the opening quarter – and the Greenies led wire-to-wire for a 27-8 win at Metrolina Christian Academy.

Friday was set up to be a dress rehearsal of sorts for Christ School cross country.

The Greenies aced it.

Wells Edwards ’25 was mobbed by teammates and coaches as the elated striker ran to the nearest corner of the field at High Point Wesleyan Christian Academy.

Friday was a win for the ages. Many, many ages for Christ School varsity soccer. Wells was literally at the center of it all. 

Christ School’s triple-loop course was manicured to perfection and Wednesday’s weather conditions made for an idyllic October afternoon.

Most importantly, six Greenies went out the right way on Senior Day.

Grey Edens ’25 and Walker Edens '25 truly get the best of both worlds.

By attending Christ School, the two brothers are never far from hundreds of miles of natural whitewater. And their hometown of Charlotte is where the manmade rapids of the U.S. National Whitewater Center can be found.  

Conventional wisdom says to sit on the ball and milk the clock.

Christ School varsity soccer was following the plan Tuesday night, ahead 1-0 at Asheville School with a man-up advantage for the final 5 minutes.

Aydan White ’20 has put himself and Christ School football in the national conversation like never before since a breakout game Saturday night for N.C. State University. The Wolfpack defeated Texas Tech, 27-14, in Raleigh before a sold-out crowd and ESPN TV audience. 

Look past the name. The WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., has become one of the state’s real proving grounds for cross country.

And Christ School runners proved themselves Saturday morning.

Rest assured, Brendan Regan ’24 makes his presence known.

The junior from Rockville, Md., is as reliable as defenders come for Christ School varsity soccer and Brendan often gives the team an emotional spark from the back as well.

Hunter Vines ’18 throws himself into his workouts every day, not to spite the haters. 

Rather, the motivation is to prove all the people right who took a chance on him at Christ School, and later as his lacrosse career has flourished at High Point University.

You could say it’s been a big week for Cayden Jones ’24. But honestly where do they rank at this point?

Legion Collegiate put a short opening kickoff in the breadbasket of the most highly-recruited football player in Christ School history and it was all downhill from there for the visitors from Rock Hill, S.C.

Four years ago, David Costa looked to Christ School for his first recruit as the then-new men’s soccer coach at Belmont University.

The Wake Forest University recruit became the first runner in Christ School history to break 15 minutes in a 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) race Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C. His winning time of 14 minutes, 57.60 seconds was a course record by an astonishing 27 seconds for the 38th annual Eye-Opener at Milliken Research Center.

His family name is well-known on the Asheville soccer scene.

Nothing was routine about Friday’s pregame routine for Christ School varsity football.

An overturned 18-wheeler snarled Interstate 26 traffic in both directions, delaying the drive down to Columbus. Thunderclouds in the area were threatening enough to push kickoff back an hour.

To their credit, the Greenies blocked out all the off-field distractions and made their own luck.
