There is no physical manifestation of a Greenie, a school mascot if you will.

But if there were, you would have to imagine he would look a lot like Dan Stevenson ’72, P’15.

Friday was no ordinary end to the week because this is no ordinary week at Christ School.

Jackson Hipp ‘18 has relished every plate appearance, every fly ball he has chased down in the outfield for the Brown University baseball team this season.

For, you see, Jackson is making up for lost time unlike any other college athlete who has ever come from Christ School.

Head of School Dr. Sean Jenkins gave clear and concise instructions Thursday.

“Let’s enjoy this spring afternoon, being together as Greenies.”

More than 290 boys were all too happy to oblige for Christ School’s first Head of School Holiday of the spring semester.

Christ School’s first-ever Grandparents Day had been in the works for more than a year and was worth the wait. 

Friday was full of heartwarming moments as many of the boys got to spend time with their loved ones and give them insight into their experience as Greenies.

Showing up for work every day at the ballpark is not a bad gig.

Christ School alumnus William Fleming ‘17 is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the Seattle Mariners’ minor-league system and is currently with their Single-A affiliate in Modesto (Calif.).

Henry Nicholls ’23 was ready to make his case after a grant-writing workshop at Christ School.

Now, with some help, he’s ready to make some sandwiches.  

Henry applied for and won a $250 Hershey Heartwarming Young Heroes Grant for his idea to provide sandwiches to the homeless population of Asheville. The junior is looking to find at least 25 volunteers to form the “Christ School Sandwich Squad” and prepare food for May 1, which is Global Youth Service Day.  

Scholarship, leadership, character, and a commitment to service are universally celebrated in the Christ School community on a year-round basis.

These values are at the core of the National Honor Society as well.

We’re less than three weeks away from Alumni Weekend (May 6-8) at Christ School! All alumni are invited to return to campus for a fun weekend, and we will celebrate reunions for classes ending in 2 and 7. 

The agenda for Alumni Weekend is filled with several exciting celebrations, including two important recognitions related to athletics. 

Christ School’s annual Palm Sunday service capped a busy weekend for the boys.

Father John Roberts led the service inside and outside St. Joseph's Chapel on a sunny, picturesque spring afternoon.

Dean of Students Drew Hyche ’94, Assistant Dean of Students Jonny Wangrin, and Director of Residential Life Benjie Colberg announced Christ School’s monthly student awards in Friday’s Assembly.

Paying homage proved to be an educational experience for Christ School’s Veterans Service Club.

And it can now be found in book form.

The Veterans Service Club Interview Project was conceived and carried out in the Fall of 2021.

Spring Training is one of the most romanticized times of the year for baseball fans.  

So, you can imagine how Christ School alumnus Ian Mayers ’14 feels right in the thick of it, helping the New York Yankees prepare for their season.

Ian began his job as a Performance Science Assistant about a month ago.

Some would call it running a tactical race. But for Rocky Hansen ’23, he was simply “feeling it” all weekend long at the adidas Track Nationals in Virginia Beach, Va.

Hal Brewster ’05 had always been a fan of the horror fiction genre.

The pandemic turned out to be the perfect excuse to finally sit down and write his first novel.  

John Fulkerson ’16 has lived out his dreams at the University of Tennessee, so much so that his reality became preferrable some time ago.

James Cassarino never set out to write a new school song.  

“Seek Ye First” and “St. Patrick’s Breastplate” are hymns that are held in such high regard in the Christ School community that they will never be replaced.  

But Mr. Cassarino, now in his third year as Director of Music, Chair of the Fine Arts Department, and Choirmaster/Organist, did think it would be neat if the school had its first-ever alma mater to be sung at appropriate times.  

More and more boys are standing out for their actions and words in the Christ School community as the 2021-22 academic year begins to wind down.
