The countdown is on for the 125th Celebration and Alumni Weekend. We are watching the weather and want to provide you with a few updates that will make your return as enjoyable as possible.

Just in time for Alumni Weekend comes the story of Christ School’s origin: a love story. 

“My Dear Christ School Boys: Celebrating 125 Years of Christ School Through Love, Loss, and Letters” became a book idea to Grey Edens ’25 after reading the hand-written letters between the school’s co-founders – Father Thomas Wetmore and his wife, Susan. 

The book is available for purchase through Amazon and in the Christ School bookstore. 

Every link in the Long Green Line gives it strength, but certain individuals rise above in honoring their alma mater.

Christ School is pleased to announce this year’s Alumni Award winners, who will be formally recognized Sept. 28, as part of Alumni Weekend.

ASHEVILLE - Jamal Hutchison ‘23 repeated himself Thursday, winning the Skyview Open amateur championship for the second year in a row. 

Jamal had a chip-in on the 54th and final hole to finish it out with his father, Robert P’23, looking on.

Two members of the Class of 2020 who first befriended one another as Greenies now find themselves on a similar trajectory in the U.S. Marine Corps. 

Lieutenant Joe Coladonato ’20, left, and Lieutenant Jack Fitch ’20 furthered their service to their country by reporting June 3 to The Basic School in Quantico, Va. 

In true Greenie fashion, Mason Plumlee ’09 gave everything he could to 100 young, impressionable basketball players last week. Never mind that his own professional free agency was pending at the time.  

High character paired with ability is why Mason is now going on Year 12 in the NBA.  

Marshall Plumlee ’11 came ready to mix it up with a gym full of campers Sunday morning. 

And he did, playfully grinning as he engaged as many of the youth as possible in a shootaround to open the Plumlee Basketball Camp. 

With one year to go, Garrett Clapsaddle ’21 has made his mark at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. 

The Christ School alumnus, pictured third from right, was one of the big winners at Wednesday night’s year-end athletic awards ceremony in Kings Point, N.Y., receiving the Kenneth Graff Memorial Award. The Graff award is presented each year to a USMMA baseball player and soccer player who exemplifies fierce competitiveness, regimental honor and integrity, and family pride.

The Christ School alumnus and Appalachian State University redshirt senior wide receiver is shown in digitized form for about 5 seconds, returning a kick in his college’s Kidd Brewer Stadium.

One of the first steps to manifesting a dream is putting it out there with clear, precise language.

Christ School alumnus Jamal Hutchison ’23 checked that box last week in video distributed to the PGA Tour’s millions of social media followers. 

"I'm Jamal Hutchison. I'm from Fletcher, North Carolina," the Greenie said in the introduction to clips of him practicing with two-time major winner Webb Simpson. 

Sean Dow ’21 puts the “specialist” in Faceoff Specialist. 

The Christ School alumnus, arguably the best to ever play the position for the Greenies, was named the Patriot League’s Faceoff Specialist of the Week on Monday. 

Nothing is more divine to Rad West ’62 than spending time with his four grandchildren.

Three girls, one boy. And every one of them gets spoiled rotten by Rad.

When the weather allows, he will set out on a hike near his home in Red Hook, N.Y. And Rad still considers himself an avid reader, having entered his 80s this past year.

“Eighty is the new 40,” Rad jokes.

It is when you have lived the life that Rad has.

A new player on the AI scene has more than a few familiar names fronting it. 

When in doubt, Manuel Garcia '94 leans on a quote from his old wrestling coach: "Don't be sorry, be responsible."

Kaedin Robinson ’19 was only a Greenie for one year.

That’s all it took. And he is now having the same kind of impact at Appalachian State that he did at Christ School.
