GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tuesday night was much more than your typical spring shower. 

Christ School varsity lacrosse brought its own deluge to Upstate South Carolina. 

Sean Dow ’21 puts the “specialist” in Faceoff Specialist. 

The Christ School alumnus, arguably the best to ever play the position for the Greenies, was named the Patriot League’s Faceoff Specialist of the Week on Monday. 

DURHAM - Halfway across the state, Nate Wilberding ’25 and Christ School lacrosse made all the right halftime adjustments Wednesday afternoon, flipping a tie game into a 9-4 win at Durham Academy. 

Nate scored a season-high five goals, including four in the second half. 

BURLINGTON, N.C. - Defense got the job done for Christ School lacrosse again on Saturday. 

Goal-scorers for the undefeated Greenies (2-0) were University of Denver recruit Caden Paradine ’25, R.J. Fox ’25, and Queens recruit Parker Beiland ’24. Parker’s goal in the third quarter, his fifth of a young season, proved to be the game winner.

Nothing less than returning Christ School lacrosse to state-championship contention will be enough for the players and coaches this spring. 

The expectation does not change year to year.

Christ School lacrosse sets out every season to play for a state championship and the 2024 schedule should again prepare the Greenies for a possible run in the NCISAA Division I playoffs.  

As of Friday, there are now 10 seniors from Christ School’s Class of 2024 who have committed to play college sports.

How can 2023 get any better for the Paradine family? Just wait.

Christ School junior Caden Paradine ’25 announced Thursday on his Instagram that he has verbally committed to play college lacrosse for the University of Denver.

For the third time in two weeks, a Christ School junior has committed to play college lacrosse.

Congratulations to faceoff specialist Carter Sherwood ’25 on his commitment to Loyola University Maryland, which he announced Tuesday night on his Instagram.

Congratulations to junior Xander Ring ’25 on his verbal commitment to play lacrosse for Brown University!

Xander is an all-conference defender from Tega Cay, S.C., and the sixth Christ School student-athlete since 2020 to make a commitment to an Ivy League school.

Parker Beiland ’24 took on more scoring responsibility as the season wore on last spring. He was continually up the task.

The senior from Hickory, N.C., announced last weekend that he’ll be staying close to home to play his college lacrosse at Queens University of Charlotte. 

A new tradition served as the unofficial start to Christ School's 123rd Commencement Weekend on Thursday night.

Thirteen days between games is an eternity.

Knowing this, Christ School lacrosse could either let the extended time off help or hinder its state-championship aspirations.

RABUN GAP, Ga. – Playing on the road and for the first time in a week, Christ School varsity lacrosse took out some pent-up aggression on Rabun Gap (Ga.).

Jack Shimer ’23 scored the first of his three goals 2 minutes and six seconds in Saturday, and the Greenies built off it for an 11-4 win.

The clock wasn’t stopping for anything late in the game Tuesday. Neither was Nate Wilberding ’25.

The sophomore from Fletcher, N.C., scored twice in the final 90 seconds, part of his career-high seven-goal game for the Greenies in their 16-1 rout of visiting Asheville School.

Parker Beiland ’24 lit up Asheville School for five goals, all in the first half, and by that time Christ School varsity lacrosse was off to races for Tuesday’s 20-5 road win.

CHARLOTTE - Jack Shimer ’23 and his Christ School teammates were playing for something bigger than themselves Saturday.

The intensity was off the charts and the offense wasn't far behind. 

Ten different Greenies scored goals and three had hat tricks Wednesday night in the biggest offensive explosion for Christ School varsity lacrosse in two years.  

Four games have shown Christ School varsity lacrosse its potential as well as the other end of the spectrum.
