Mason Plumlee '09 has announced on his personal website that he is giving back to Christ School with the creation of this summer’s Plumlee Basketball Camp. The camp will be June 26-28 in the Greenie Dome – the site of many triumphs by Mason as well as his brothers Miles ’08 and Marshall ’11 – and is open to boys ages 11-18.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Dawson Reeves ‘24 was content to let other runners dictate the tempo early on Sunday. He was all alone down the homestretch to becoming a first-time national champion.

Emboldened by months of intense training, Walker Edens ’25 and Grey Edens ’25 gave it their all Saturday in the kayaking hotspot of Columbus, Georgia.  Walker qualified for the K1 junior men’s national team by placing third at the USA Freestyle Canoe/Kayak World Championships Team Trials. Grey will be the U.S. team’s first alternate by virtue of his fourth-place showing.

February’s celebration of Black History Month and the impending arrival of spring were on the mind of Tim Seibles on Thursday.

Eighth grader Elliott Stay ’27 has been happily overwhelmed with interest since announcing Monday in Assembly that he would be putting his baking talent to a charitable use. Elliott is accepting orders through the Christ School community for homemade cookies, with all proceeds benefitting those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

The inherent brotherhood found at Christ School has been known to form the basis to something more – many alumni have followed the same calling to serve their country. These Greenies were on the mind of Denis de St. Aubin ’13 when he proposed the latest project for the school’s Veterans Service Club.

The inaugural “Asheville’s Got Talent” debuted on Saturday night to a packed house at the Diana Wortham Theatre. Christ School initiated the talent show showcasing the performing arts between Asheville School, Carolina Day School, and Christ School. Kahzi Sealey ’23 took the stage last, receiving a standing ovation and taking home the first-place trophy for his original rap, “A Lifetime.” 

No local art gallery could offer boys from Christ School the same level of exposure.

Commercial space flight on a large scale is coming sooner than most people think. 

Flynn Cruse ’18 moved to Florida in October to join an industry in its infancy. He works as the Cabin Pressure Control Systems Engineer for a company called Space Perspective. The startup has already sold more than 1,000 reservations for trips which are expected to begin as soon as 2024. An unmanned test will be conducted later this year. 

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a great time to take stock of the past and present to ensure a better tomorrow, Father Roberts told the boys in a special MLK Day Chapel service.  

Christ School’s students and faculty took a break from traditional classes Monday to immerse themselves in the teachings of the late civil rights leader.

Dean of Academics Emily Pulsifer P’15, P’17 is pleased to announce that 113 boys from Christ School made the Head of School’s High Honor Roll for the Fall Term of 2022.

Joel Samuels believes we are living through an especially fraught time. There are the geopolitical implications of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Domestically, a big concern is the ever-growing polarization of American politics.

Samuels told the boys Monday that their generation has a chance to either accept the current climate as it is or do everything in their power to be agents of change.  

Five boys from Christ School have been recognized as part of the annual Western North Carolina Regional Scholastic Art Awards.

Grady Byrd ’57, who was well-known throughout the Asheville area for his business sense and civic duties, ultimately wanted to be remembered as “a lifelong Greenie” in his obituary.

Christ School is incredibly saddened to share that one of its most faithful supporters passed away Wednesday. Grady was 84.

Head of School Dr. Sean Jenkins asked every eighth grader to stand in Tuesday's Assembly. He saluted the boys for the vital role they will play in the future of the Christ School community and the courage they have shown in their first five months as Greenies.

The moment dovetailed nicely into Tuesday night's Eighth Grade Exhibition in the Lower Science Wing.
