Pete is a right-handed pitcher/outfielder from Asheville. He holds a weighted grade-point average of 4.7, belongs to the National Honor Society, and is a Proctor in Young House.

With one year to go, Garrett Clapsaddle ’21 has made his mark at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. 

The Christ School alumnus, pictured third from right, was one of the big winners at Wednesday night’s year-end athletic awards ceremony in Kings Point, N.Y., receiving the Kenneth Graff Memorial Award. The Graff award is presented each year to a USMMA baseball player and soccer player who exemplifies fierce competitiveness, regimental honor and integrity, and family pride. 

Congratulations to 30 spring sports athletes who were named to all-conference teams in the Carolinas Athletic Association.

A Christ School varsity baseball team with renewed life came out swinging with some focus and aggression in the second round of the NCISAA 4-A state playoffs. 

Jonathan Reece ’25, Luka Rose ’25, and Jake Gravley ’24 made Bourne Field look like a hitter-friendly park, each homering in Wednesday afternoon’s 8-2 home win over Cannon School. 

This is the first playoff win for the Greenie program since 2019.

JV Baseball dusted off some decades-old uniforms that the Athletic Department still has in storage Saturday. The exact age of the uniforms is not known, but they are believed to date back to the 1980s or 1990s when a scripted ‘C’ was the predominant logo worn by Christ School sports teams. 

Symbolism on point: 24 college sports recruits from Christ School’s Class of 2024. 

Following an extended assembly Friday, boys taking part in Spring Signing Day were joined by their family and Greenie brothers for a ceremony in Mebane Field House.

The Greenies did not give up a run all weekend in wins over Carolina Day (11-0 on Friday) and Durham Academy (15-0). In turn, the Greenies did their part at the plate to ensure neither game at Bourne Field went past five innings due to the mercy rule.

Charlie made his second home start of the season Saturday. And much like the first, he only got more unhittable with each ensuing pitch. Working fast on a cold day, the Western Carolina University recruit struck out 10 and allowed his only runs in the first inning of a 6-2 complete game win over Charlotte Latin.

The Greenies (7-2) gave their ace three runs of support in the third inning and again in the fifth.

Christ School proceeded to feast on Greenville (S.C.) Hurricanes pitching for 17 hits – 10 more than the seven combined hits in their last three games – to win on the road Wednesday, 13-5.

Two opponents so far in the Florida League High School Invitational have committed a total of nine errors. But the Greenies’ scrappiness and speed has a lot to do with that.

Christ School went into the Florida League High School Invitational with a predetermined schedule, knowing that Tuesday would be reserved solely for a team outing to Universal Studios. 

CANDLER, N.C. - Jonathan Reece ’25 ran the bases like it was no big deal Saturday, waiting for every runner in front of him to properly touch second, third, and home plate. 

It wasn’t even the catcher’s first grand slam in a little over a year with the Christ School baseball program, which speaks to the kind of run that Jonathan has been on. 

When a pitcher like Charlie Collins ’24 is dealing, it’s the best icebreaker of them all. 

The Western Carolina University recruit got better as Thursday night’s game wore on and Christ School’s bats eventually caught up for a 9-0 shutout of visiting Cannon School. 

Day Student Proctor and fifth-year senior Jacob Wilde ’24 had the best kind of Blue Christmas.

Jacob verbally committed Monday to play baseball for Brevard College, whose predominant color is blue.

No one is looking forward to baseball in 2024 more than Reese Ballard ’24.

He only got four games under his belt last spring before losing the rest of his junior season to an injury.
