Varsity soccer got back on track Thursday afternoon with its third shutout of the year.

Fox Smith ‘21 and Luke Rheney ’21 scored goals off a pair of assists from a third junior, Carson Campbell ’21, and Christ School took a 2-0 win at Legacy Early College in Greenville, S.C.

Every single field player got into the game Wednesday, a point of pride for Christ School soccer coach Guy Campbell ’00.

The Greenies needed a collective effort and then some to win their Carolinas Athletic Association opener. Goals from Adam Keever ’20 and Jack Lee ’21 in the final 5 minutes and 38 seconds allowed Christ School to come from behind for a 3-2 win at Carolina Day.

Outside of his studies at Christ School, Michael Mahoney ’20 has shown an interest in real estate. The senior is sure covering a lot of ground for an undefeated soccer team.

Faint thunder could be heard rumbling on the periphery of Christ School’s campus Thursday evening. Meanwhile, the Greenies were stirring up a little noise of their own in NCISAA 4-A soccer.

Guy Campbell ’00 does not care much for the perception that he has a young soccer team.

In fact, the coach believes that experience along with chemistry will be strong suits for Christ School this season.

Early Sports are in full swing at Christ School, as usual a reminder that summer is winding down and a new year of Greenie athletics is ready to begin.

Christ School's varsity soccer team has faced a tough early-season schedule again this year, and after nine games a 3-6 overall and 0-4 vs NCISAA 4A schools.

Though the Greenies fell to Providence Day on the road Thursday night, the coaching staff remains incredibly confident in the teams ability coming off this early season loss. In an even first half, the Greenies gave up a goal in the first 20 minutes before letting in a blooper late.

Recent graduate Faris Serafim '18, a former all-conference soccer player who suffered an ACL tear early in the 2017 season, has decided to continue his career at Lees-McRae College.

After starting the season 3-5 last year, Christ School soccer won 10 of its last 12 games before falling in a hotly-contested quarterfinal playoff match on the road to Cannon School. While the Greenies graduated Conference Player of the Year John Beard '18, a wealth of players are ready to step up. Leading the way are all-conference returners Corey Lavinder '19 and Thomas May '19 as well as Marcus Berger '19.

The Varsity Soccer team has seen great success in the Western Carolinas over the past few years, and this year was no different.
