Continued excellence across the board for Christ School athletics is being reflected in recruiting. For the third time in five years, a senior class will include 20 or more boys who have committed or signed to play college sports.

CHARLOTTE - Four games without Emanuel Richards ’23 was four too many.

The senior from Irmo, S.C., and Longwood University recruit was back in Christ School varsity basketball’s lineup Saturday for the first time in nearly three weeks. Emanuel’s presence was needed at both ends of the floor in another win with possible NCISAA 4-A state playoff implications – 62-60 at Charlotte Christian.

Christ School basketball teams went a perfect 4-for-4 in Tuesday's games, which was the first afternoon or evening in which the Greenies have ever played four times.

The Freshman and JV Greenies beat teams one division higher than them, doing it on the road no less.

Keenan Wilkins ’24 was twisting, turning, and falling to the court all at the same time Tuesday night.

It was poetry in motion, especially with the basketball softly trickling through the net. The Greenie Dome was deafening at times, but never louder than the aftermath of Keenan’s three-point play with 42.6 seconds to go.

SWANNANOA – Not much was going right for Christ School varsity basketball in a hostile environment Thursday night.

Except the score.

It's been a long road back for Jozohn Price '24.

The Christ School basketball program and school community in general is thankful that road led back to Arden.

BRISTOL, Tennessee - Five games in five days, and the last was one of the best yet for Christ School varsity basketball. 

Christ School varsity basketball players crashed the boards as they should have Friday. But the reality is a shot from just inside the free throw line by Emanuel Richards ’23 was good from the moment it left his hands.

Emanuel posted up his man, took an entry pass from Jamari Briggs ’24, and scored with 4.5 seconds to go in overtime. The Greenies (17-1), who had been playing catchup all afternoon long against Knoxville-Webb (Tenn.), surged late to win an Arby’s Classic consolation game, 63-61.

BRISTOL, Tennessee – Wednesday’s game could have gone either way after a tie score of 22-all at halftime.

It went Christ School’s way, and in a big way.

BRISTOL, TENNESSEE - Five different players in double figures and an early 19-0 run made a nice introduction to the Arby’s Classic for this Christ School team.

MARIETTA, GA. - Bigger isn’t always better.

Christ School varsity basketball overcame a program with nine times its enrollment (Walton, Ga.), and then another Atlanta-area school (Lovett, Ga.) to leave the Lemon Street Classic with a 14-0 record.

Bigger challenges await a Christ School varsity basketball team which has played its way onto the statewide and national radar, as the latest batch of rankings indicate.

All that seriousness could wait Tuesday night.

Nearly one-fourth of Christ School’s Class of 2023 was seated at a long row of tables Monday morning with college paraphernalia spread all around.

An extraordinary year for Greenie athletics called for the vast space of Mebane Field House to hold a special all-school Assembly.

Homecourt advantage is a nice luxury to have. But it cannot really be quantified yet with this Christ School varsity basketball team.

The Greenies are winning big, no matter where they play, by an average of 22.8 points per game. And their record is 11-0 for only the fourth time in school history following another rout Saturday inside Mebane Field House.

Strength in numbers.

Four basketball teams are the most the Christ School Athletic Department has ever offered. The motivation is to not only grow the program but offer boys more opportunity for playing time at their appropriate skill level.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Make no mistake, the Greenie Dome offers a homecourt advantage like no other.

But it hasn’t been all bad for Christ School varsity basketball to play five consecutive games on the road or neutral floors.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Christ School players and coaches have openly talked about their aspirations to be one of the last basketball teams standing in the NCISAA 4-A state playoffs.

Games like Saturday make that path look entirely negotiable. 

Eleven days is the longest break between games that Christ School varsity basketball will have all season long.

The Greenies were largely unfazed by the extended time off Wednesday in High Point.

CHARLOTTE - Some teams are an enigma. It could take a coaching staff an entire season to figure what makes their players tick.  

Fortunately, Christ School varsity basketball is not one of those teams.

Full-court pressure and shooting range are a potent combination.

Christ School varsity basketball’s defense made life uncomfortable for Covenant Day from the second the ball was inbounded Friday night. Turnovers and long rebounds led to plenty of open looks when possession changed.
